Context
Ergonomyx is a company that creates innovative products to promote physical activity and healthy living in the workplace. Their Smart Standing Desk and Smart Under Desk Bike are examples of products that help users stay active throughout the workday, turning passive downtime into a total body experience
To complement their products, Ergonomyx developed a mobile app designed to help users monitor their activity levels and track their progress towards their fitness goals.
Problematic
Ergonomyx was facing a problem of low user engagement on their mobile app, which was hindering the promotion of physical activity and healthy living in the workplace, it was affecting the usage of their Smart Standing Desk and Smart Under Desk Bike. To address this issue, we implemented a gamification feature in the app that incorporated a streak tracking system. The streak feature was designed to motivate users to maintain daily physical activity streaks, encouraging healthier habits in the workplace.
Ideation
As part of my design process for creating the gamification feature for Ergonomyx's app, I recognized that creating a clear and recognizable icon would be crucial for user engagement and understanding. Therefore, I focused on designing an icon that would be both visible in the mobile version and easily understandable for users.

Inspiration
I designed Ergonomyx's gamification feature by taking inspiration from Duolingo's user interface and incorporating streak tracking and social features. By tailoring the feature to the needs of Ergonomyx's users, including unique streak rules and encouraging social connections, the feature successfully promotes daily physical activity and motivates users for a successful app experience.

Takeaways
Through the process of designing Ergonomyx's gamification feature, I gained a deeper understanding of how to effectively engage and motivate users through the use of gamification techniques.One of the key takeaways from this experience was the decision of considering the work that was already put in from the developers (and previous designers) in the flow of the app.
We had to analyze the existing database and what current user data was being captured in the app. For example, the “active time usage” is taken everyday and it provides a summary of the amount of engagement there is for both bike and desk. We used this existing user data to implement our feature which ended up saving time.
